Great
Lakes Commission
The Great Lakes Commission
is a binational agency that promotes the orderly, integrated and
comprehensive development, use and conservation of the water and
related natural resources of the Great Lakes basin and St. Lawrence
River. Its members include the eight Great Lakes states with associate
member status for the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Québec.
Each jurisdiction appoints a delegation of three to five members
comprised of senior agency officials, legislators and/or appointees
of the governor or premier.

Interstate
Commission on the Potomac River Basin
The mission of the Interstate Commission on
the Potomac River Basin is to enhance, protect and conserve the
water and associated land resources of the Potomac River basin
and its tributaries through regional and interstate cooperation.
This mission is derived from the 1940 compact
and the 1970 amendment that create ICPRB as an interstate agency
of its member jurisdictions the commonwealths of Pennsylvania
and Virginia and the states of Maryland and West Virginia, the
District of Columbia and the federal government.

Interstate
Environmental Commission
(formerly
Interstate Sanitation Commission)
The Interstate
Environmental Commission is a joint agency of the States of New
York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The IEC was established in
1936 under a Compact between New York and New Jersey and approved
by Congress. The State of Connecticut joined the Commission in
1941.
The goals
of the IEC are to abate and control water pollution in the Interstate
Environmental District and engage in the coordination of interstate
air pollution problems and issues in order to achieve a healthy
environment and a productive ecosystem. The IEC implements these
goals by: coordinating interstate and region-wide programs and
enforcing the IEC's water quality regulations; providing technical
assistance and support to its member States; taking the lead on
region-wide issues; and enhancing public and legislative awareness,
and disseminating information.

Missouri
River Basin Association
The Missouri River Basin Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization founded in 1981 by the Missouri basin Governors to
coordinate Missouri River planning activities. The MRBA works
with the basin's states, Indian tribes, federal agencies, river
users and other interests to develop and implement plans to enhance
the basin's economic and environmental resources.

New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission
The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission, a non-profit interstate agency established by an Act of Congress, serves and assists its member states individually and collectively by providing coordination, public education, training and leadership in the management and protection of water quality in the New York and New England Region.

Ohio River Basin Commission
The Commission purpose is to (1) Provide a forum to discuss, study, and develop regional policies and positions on common interstate issues concerning water and related land resources; (2) coordinate, to the extent possible and appropriate, water and related land resources planning in the basin and to encourage coordinated and cooperative action by the member states, the federal government, and other agencies in the planning, development, and management of the water resources in the basin; (3) provide representation of the regional interests of the basin before Congress and federal agencies responsible for the planning development, and management of water and related resources in the basin; (4) investigate, study, and review water related problems and issues of interest to the member states.

Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission
The Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO), was established on June 30, 1948 to control and abate pollution in the Ohio River Basin. ORSANCO is an interstate commission representing eight states and the federal government. Member states include: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. ORSANCO operates programs to improve water quality in the Ohio River and its tributaries, including: setting waste water discharge standards; performing biological assessments; monitoring for the chemical and physical properties of the waterways; and conducting special surveys and studies. ORSANCO also coordinates emergency response activities for spills or accidental discharges to the river, and promotes public participation in programs, such as the Ohio River Sweep and RiverWatchers volunteer monitoring program.

Susquehanna
River Basin Commission
The SRBC is the governing
agency established under a 100-year compact signed on Dec. 24,
1970 by the federal government and the states of New York, Pennsylvania,
and Maryland, to protect and wisely manage the water resources
of the Susquehanna River Basin.

Upper Mississippi River Basin Association (UMRBA) is a regional
interstate organization formed by the Governors of the states
of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin to help coordinate
