•  Geographic scope: Ohio River Basin (excluding Tennessee River Basin) 203,940 sq. miles in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The total drainage area for the Ohio River Basin covered by the Mid-Atlantic States of Pennsylvania , Maryland , Virginia and West Virginia is 43,405 sq. miles.

•  Mission: to provide a forum for the Ohio River Basin States to study, discuss, and develop regional policies and positions on common interstate issues concerning water and related land resources; coordinate water and related land resources planning in the Ohio River Basin; provide representation of the regional interests of the Basin before the Congress and federal agencies responsible for the planning, development, and management of water and related land resources in the Basin; and investigate, study and review water-related problems and issues of interest to the member states.
