Upcoming Conferences:

ICWP 2008 Washington Roundtable Meeting (March 4-6): Our 2008 Washington Roundtable, including the Water Infrastructure Workshop and reception we shared with Western States Water Council and the Association of State & Interstate Water Pollution Control Administrators, was a terrific success.  We owe great thanks to Gene Whitney, Steve Stockton, Chet Koblinsky, Bob Hirsch, Bryan Arroyo –and to our WSWC and ASIWPCA partners, and all the Members who contributed to the challenging consideration of data, infrastructure and funding shortfalls! You should review our program and plan to join us again next year (probably the first week of March, but we'll post the details as soon as we nail them down). Let Peter Evans know if you have any suggestions or questions.

ICWP's Fall 2008 Meeting (October 14-16???): We have begun planning for our next Fall Meeting, including our Members' Business Meeting, and we're exploring the viability of meeting in Sacramento on October 14-16, 2008.  So far, all the reactions have been very positive and no schedule conflicts have been identified, so mark that week on your calendar and we'll post more specific information about the program, tours, hotel and other opportunities soon! If you know of a schedule conflict, or if you have suggestions for the meeting, please contact Peter Evans ASAP!

CWP Streamgage Cooperator Roundtables: We are coordinating with USGS and regional water leaders to schedule and convene more regional stakeholder meetings in 2008. Expect to see schedules, programs and invitation information for meetings for the Ohio River basin states, the Missouri River basin states and in Florida on our Streamgages page soon!

Recent Conferences:

ICWP 2007 Annual Meeting in New Orleans (October 26-27, 2007): Member participation in the Big Easy was very strong and so were the meeting presentations and discussion. The meeting and tour program and meeting summary (coming soon) give you a clear indication of the useful progress we have made and the many challenges we are facing. With the new officers and directors elected during our annual Members business meeting, participation in both our Interstate Committee and Legislative & Policy Committee have increased and the prospect for 2008 is quite encouraging. Let Peter Evans know if you want additional information.

CWP Streamgage Cooperator Roundtables: We have been coordinating with USGS and regional water leaders to convene summarize the results from three more regional stakeholder meetings in 2007. The meeting materials, presentation summaries and stakeholder recommendations from those meetings (for the Southeastern Atlantic coastal states , the Upper Mississippi River basin states and in California ) are available now (along with information from the 2005 and 2006 meetings and other useful information)on our Streamgages page now.

ICWP 2007 Washington Roundtable Meeting (February 26-27, 2007): Although Member participation was inhibited by an ice storm February 25 that caused many airline flight cancellations, we had another strong meeting with federal officials, congressional staff and the leadership from Western States Water Council (WSWC), the Association of State Flood Plain Managers (ASFPM) and the American Water Resources Association (AWRA). The program and summary from our discussions are supplemented with the handout materials provided by Chris Topik (House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies) and Ward Staubitz (USGS Cooperative Water Program) to give you a useful reminder and an indication of the collaborative strategies we endorsed. Let Peter Evans know if you want additional information.

ICWP 2006 Annual Members' Meeting (Nov5-Nov6 in Baltimore, MD): Our 2006 Annual Meeting was attended by approximately 2/3 of our membership and several strong allies, providing the basis to refresh our momentum and refine our targeting in key initiatives. Our Meeting Summary provides highlights from our Members’ Meeting, selected professional sessions and our breakfast meeting with the AWRA Board of Directors. Our exhibit provided good exposure for our commitments to build stronger water science programs and promote interstate water organization and the Watershed Collaboration panel included presentations about the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission, the Glen Canyon Adaptive Management Program, and the Susquehanna River Basin Commission.

2nd National CWP Stakeholders' Roundtable (Jan31-Feb2, 2006): The meeting in Austin, TX was a big success, both in terms of the cross section of Cooperators and USGS Centers that participated and in terms of the information and opportunities we developed! A summary of the discussions with many of the handouts and PowerPoint presentation files AND the recommendations for future management of the CWP are available (look on our Streamgage Funding page).

ICWP Washington Roundtable 2006 (Feb28-Mar2, 2006): Our 2006 Washington Roundtable was held on March 1 and the unveiling of our report “Interstate Water Solutions for the New Millennium” took place March 2. The setting was intimate and the discussion both days was direct and focused on useful topics (as you can see from our meeting program). Contact Peter Evans or any board member for details.

ICWP 2005 Annual Meeting in San Antonio: A big success, thanks to everyone who attended! The Conference discussions provided an excellent view of our existing strategies for mitigating flood and drought risks and the implementation difficulties we face at the local, state, interstate and national levels. Actions during the Annual Meeting included revision of our By-Laws, election of Directors and Officers for the next two years and discussion of priorities for 2006 (the minutes are available below). We also established two strong Committees (one concerning interstate water organizations and the other for legislative & policy development) and enjoyed an informative evening with members of the Western States Water Council Executive Committee, which resulted in an agreement to explore collaborative opportunities related to the following issues: Streamgaging, Drought (monitoring infrastructure, NIDIS and federal legislation), the Farm Bill, desalination legislation, funding for water infrastructure, water supply planning, flood risk mitigation, ESA reform.
